Why pilgrims come here

The Dwarkadhish temple, also called Jagat Mandir, rises above the Gomti ghat where the river meets the Arabian Sea. Devotees watch for the changing of the temple's large flag (dhwaja), which happens several times a day.

Around Dwarka are sites linked to Shri Krishna's life: Bet Dwarka, his island residence; Rukmini Devi temple; Gopi Talav; and Nageshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

Darshan & aarti tips

  • The main temple is usually open from early morning (Mangla aarti) until night, with a break in the afternoon. Check the day's timings before you plan.
  • Mobile phones, cameras and leather items are generally not allowed inside; lockers are available near the temple.
  • Bet Dwarka is reached by road over the Sudarshan Setu from Okha, about 30 km from Dwarka.
  • Janmashtami and Holi (Phuldol Utsav) draw huge crowds; book transport and stays early.

Timings change. Temple timings vary with seasons and festivals. Always confirm the day's darshan and aarti schedule with the temple's official sources before you travel. We'll plan your departure around it.
