Haridwar and the Ganga seen from Mansa Devi temple

Gateway to the gods

Haridwar yatra.

Haridwar is where the Ganga leaves the Himalaya for the plains. The evening aarti at Har Ki Pauri, with thousands of lamps floating on the river, is one of India's great sights.

Why pilgrims come here

Har Ki Pauri is the city's holiest ghat, believed to bear the footprint of Lord Vishnu. Haridwar is one of the four sites of the Kumbh Mela and the gateway to the Char Dham.

Two hilltop temples, Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi, are reached by ropeway. Rishikesh is just 25 km upstream.

Darshan & aarti tips

  • The Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri is held every evening around sunset; arrive early.
  • Ropeways to Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi have queues on weekends and festivals.
  • Kumbh, Ardh Kumbh and Kanwar season bring enormous crowds and traffic restrictions.

Timings change. Temple timings vary with seasons and festivals. Always confirm the day's darshan and aarti schedule with the temple's official sources before you travel. We'll plan your departure around it.

Suggested yatra plan from Rajkot

  1. Days 1–2Rajkot to Delhi via Udaipur or Jaipur, with halts.
  2. Day 3Delhi to Haridwar, evening Ganga aarti.
  3. Day 4Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi, then Rishikesh.
  4. Days 5–7Return journey with halts.

This is a long journey from Rajkot. Many families fly or take a train for the long leg; others prefer one car and driver throughout. We plan daily driving limits and overnight halts so the yatra stays comfortable. Interstate permits and tolls are listed in the quote.

  • Rest and meal stops planned for elders
  • Drop points close to temple entrances where allowed
  • Plans built around darshan and aarti timings
  • Patient drivers who help with luggage
