About Jamnagar
For most travellers from Rajkot, Jamnagar is either a business trip to its industrial belt or the first stop on the road to Dwarka. The city is worth a few hours: Lakhota Lake and its palace, the old bazaars, and the Bala Hanuman temple with its decades-long continuous chanting.
Off the coast lies the Marine National Park, India's first, with coral reefs visible at low tide at Narara.
Places to see
- Lakhota Lake and PalaceA lake in the city centre, with a small palace museum on an island.
- Bala Hanuman TempleKnown for continuous chanting of 'Shri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram' since 1964.
- Bhujiyo KothoA historic bastion overlooking the lake.
- Marine National Park, NararaTidal pools and coral reefs; visits depend on low tide and permits.
